About the role:

As the successful applicant, you will be required to work as part of and assist with supervision of the administrative team of Bendigo Prosecutions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Officer in Charge of North-West Loddon Mallee Prosecutions you will ensure expedient movement and recording of large volumes of critical legal documents for Prosecutors and Lawyers in the Prosecutions Unit.

Your duties will include:

  • Assist in the management of the administration team at Bendigo Prosecutions.
  • Monitoring Position Based Email Accounts.
  • Managing the Summary Case Conferencing via electronic diary for police prosecutors and lawyers.
  • Preparing briefs for court by cross referencing the court list against filed briefs.
  • Accessing and providing hard and soft copies of briefs of evidence to solicitors and police prosecutors.
  • Utilising and maintaining an ongoing record of critical criminal and Family Violence briefs and other documents on a centralised database.
  • Effective communication and maintenance of professional relationships and with key stakeholders to ensure the team functions efficiently and effectively.
  • Statistical gathering, analysis and reporting.
  • Telephone and reception duties at the Bendigo Prosecutions Unit.
  • Other support duties as identified by the Officer in Charge of the unit.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • A high level of planning and organisation skill with demonstrated ability to adhere to critical timelines and security requirements.
  • Well established interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and maintain good working relationships with a diverse range of customers both internal and external to ensure the team goals are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to exemplify, maintain self-discipline and organisation skills with the capacity to provide the levels of integrity and professionalism required by the unit.
  • Flexibility to adapt to and lead change as is necessary for the unit's function.
  • Working autonomously on specific tasks to ensure they are completed in an appropriate timeframe.
  • A strong work ethic with an ability to manage a busy workload.
  • Strong IT skills will be highly regarded.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, ongoing position available.
  • This position is located at Bendigo Prosecutions Unit, 221 High Street, Bendigo.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with the Acting Chief Health Officer's Direction – COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination (Workers) Directions, you are required to be fully vaccinated (this includes a booster vaccination) and your employment with Victoria Police is subject to proof of vaccination.
  • As a member of the Legal Services Department you will be located, on selection, at a specific office within a Division for a particular advertised opportunity.  However, given occasional legal service demand issues you may be required at times to undertake varied work within the Department.  This supports the Departments commitment to a flexible and deployable legal workforce and professional development opportunities in a range of legal domains.
