About the role:

Cybercrime Division operate dedicated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platforms to provide members across the state the ability to perform a range of cyber related policing services.


Reporting directly to the Cybercrime IT Manager, you will be part of a small team's expansion to cater for growing business requirements.  This presents an exciting opportunity to partake in new system refreshes, upgrades and enhancements in a unique and varied environment.

The role is situated in Melbourne CBD servicing headquarters and state-wide branches.

As the successful applicant you will have demonstrated experience commissioning and maintaining servers, network equipment, and endpoint system management.  You will be proactive in improving ICT systems in a mixed topology environment.

Your duties will include:

  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles
  • Administration of servers, Network Attached Storage (NAS), switches, firewalls and routers
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Environments (SOE)
  • Liaise with management and team members to resolve high impact incidents
  • Monitor ICT systems and mitigate security risks
  • Maintain Windows, VMWare security patches and firmware updates

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Capacity to function independently or part of a small team to manage and deliver complex projects
  • Ability for proactive problem detection and analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage priorities effectively
  • Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders to implement strategic ICT improvements
  • Proven experience managing client/server domains and networked equipment
  • Minimum 6 years professional experience in a systems administration role or related discipline

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, fixed term position available until 15 August 2025
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head.  To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
  • In accordance with organisational policy, all Victoria Police employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including a booster vaccination) against COVID-19 or hold a valid medical exception. As such your employment with Victoria Police is subject to providing evidence of your vaccination status.
