About the role:

The Vehicle Impoundment Support Unit operates a 24/7 logistics service to support enforcement of Part 6A Road Safety Act 1986 in the metropolitan area as well as administratively supporting the state-wide Vehicle Impoundment Program. 

As a Vehicle Impoundment Consultant, you will provide administrative support for compliance relating to the Vehicle Impoundment System (VIS) for motor vehicles impounded or immobilised pursuant to Part 6A of the Road Safety Act 1986.

We are seeking applicants who can demonstrate a varied skill set with an ability to work in a dynamic environment that is highly driven by legislation compliance. You will have experience working in a highly motivated team environment, displaying workplace resilience and have strong interpersonal skills. The role also requires a customer-centric, collaborative, and innovative approach to working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

  • Undertaking reception duties including customer service in person, over the phone and written correspondence.
  • Assisting customers with releasing vehicles in accordance with internal policy and legislative requirements.
  • Consulting with internal and external stakeholders relating to impoundments, impound and forfeiture applications, traffic briefs, and court dates.
  • Preparing letters and correspondence.
  • Providing administrative assistance to other team members.
  • Undertaking computer-based data entry activities and hard copy file management.
  • Maintaining information within a computer system for the tracking of vehicles, processes, and functions.
  • Actively contributing to continuous improvement, workplace safety and staff well-being activities.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • The ability to research and integrate database records for information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in a range of administrative duties and liaising with various stakeholders.
  • Reasonable level of computer and office equipment proficiency (including using Microsoft Office and customised computer programs).
  • High-level attention to detail as well as high-level accuracy with data entry and compliance.
  • A sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and a commitment to workplace security.
  • A commitment to the Operational Infrastructure Department Strategy Goals of Customer Centric, Collaboration and Innovation.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • Four (4) x full-time, fixed-term (until 30/06/2026) positions available.
  • These positions are located at Vehicle Impoundment Support Unit, Preston.
  • Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
