  • SES Grade 1:  $216,376 - $279,238 total remuneration package

About us 

The Emergency Management group includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.

Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) is responsible for the overall coordination of the emergency management system in Victoria. EMV drives the integration of policy, strategy, operational coordination, and planning across Victoria's emergency management sector, contributing to safer, more resilient communities. EMV is a division within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. EMV is led jointly by the Chief Executive and the Emergency Management Commissioner.

Emergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) is responsible for state and regional coordination for all emergencies to help communities build back better and emerge stronger. ERV is a division within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Working directly with impacted communities, all levels of government, agencies and industry, ERV coordinates real, effective and timely support that communities need to recover after a major emergency. As well as providing strategic leadership on whole-of-government recovery activities and delivering state recovery outcomes, ERV supports locally-led recovery efforts to support councils and ensure that community is at the centre of recovery. 

About the role 

The Director Information Communication Network (ICN) Strategy will lead the ICN Strategy Business Unit to achieve the high standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics and integrity; manage the allocation of resources, budgets, business and project planning and reporting; and demonstrate a strong commitment to a positive culture and the development of staff.

Some of your duties will include: 

  • Lead the implementation of the Emergency Management Sector-Wide Telecommunication and Technology Strategy and National Emergency Alert (EAP4) Program.
  • Lead the research and investment opportunities to support the state across enterprise platforms for the ICN. Including defining an agreed sector pipeline of priority investments for funding consideration
  • Provide the single point of entry for customers on information regarding existing ICN capabilities and future investment appointees
  • Implement the necessary steps required to support Public Safety Mobile Broadband, National messaging alert.

About you 

To be successful you will have: 

  • Proven senior level experience in advising on strategic initiatives and communicating them to senior executive 
  • Expertise in end-to-end Information Communication Network implementation
  • Proven senior level experience leading teams in complex and geographically dispersed operating environments and ensuring the highest standards of delivery.
  • A strong understanding of the processes and levers that apply to Government.
  • Degree level qualifications in an appropriate discipline is desirable.
