Position Details

  • Executive opportunity to lead a high-performing, fast-paced, and passionate team for up to three years in the Victorian Public Service 
  • Embed Aboriginal Justice considerations into departmental core business processes and facilitate system, legislative and policy reform
  • SES Grade 2 ($257,112 - $370,331 per annum)

About us 

The newly formed Truth and Justice Response Unit will drive the department's treaty-readiness agenda, responding to the Yoo-rrook Justice Commission.  

The Yoo-rrook Justice Commission will investigate both historical and ongoing injustices committed against Aboriginal Victorians since colonisation by the State and non-State entities, across all areas of social, political and economic life. 

About the role 

The Executive Director Truth and Justice Response will lead the newly created business unit, and drive, role model and embed desired cultures and ways of working.  

The Executive Director leads stakeholder engagement across the department and government and ensures high quality information is provided to the Yoo-rrook Justice Commission. The Executive Director also takes a proactive approach to embedding Aboriginal Justice considerations into departmental core business processes and facilitates system, legislative and policy reform.

Some of your duties will include: 

  • Providing ownership and overseeing the investigation of both historical and ongoing injustices committed against Aboriginal Victorians since colonisation by the State and non-State entities, across all areas of social, political and economic life  
  • Leading the coordination of the department's responses to inquiries from the Commission, as well as leading proactive and responsive legislative and system reform opportunities across the Justice and Community Safety sector that aligns with the Commission's mandate 

About you 

To be successful you will have: 

  • A proven record and high-level skills in government or other relevant policy development, strategy, program and service delivery and the ability to develop innovative programs and responses to provide a sound basis for best practice services in Victoria 
  • Demonstrated success in leading and managing a high performing multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver on major integrated workforce planning or policy related projects/programs and identifying innovative approaches to complex workforce strategy problems 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a large organisational structure involved in the management of high-risk, high-impact public safety portfolios 
  • A relevant tertiary education, qualification or equivalent is highly desirable
