Junior Solicitors

The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 300 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.

Position Details

The Office of Public Prosecutions is seeking applications to fill a number of exciting opportunities in our Melbourne office. Positions may be available in the Trial Divisions, Appeals Directorate and the Policy and Specialised Legal Division and salary will be commensurate with experience but in the range of $60,000-$70,000.

You will have had exposure to the criminal jurisdiction (ideally 1-2 years post admission experience) and are interested in establishing and consolidating a strong criminal practice skill base. To be eligible for this position you need to be admitted to practice.
