About us

Court Services Victoria (CSV) was established on 1 July 2014 as an independent statutory body corporate to provide expert administrative support to Victoria's courts; the Supreme Court, the County Court, the Magistrates' Court, the Children's Court, and the Coroners Court, as well as the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Judicial College of Victoria. CSV aspires to be a strong, independently run and efficient national and international leader in courts administration. CSV Corporate is the central corporate business area of CSV and is responsible for providing mandatory and specialist support services to each of the jurisdictions as well as CSV-wide accountabilities.

The Finance Division is responsible for supporting the individual financial management and analysis functions of the courts and tribunals within CSV. This includes statutory reporting to government; production of the annual financial statements, setting policies and procedures for conformance with mandatory legislation and regulations, coordinating all CSV financial estimates; assisting in the preparation of Expenditure Review Committee (ERC) and Public Estimate and Accounts (PAEC) briefings and submissions and associated regular corporate reporting requirements to the central agencies; and leading the planning and implementation of organisation-wide process and procedures for the management of risk arising from financial management activities.

About the role

The Financial Controller ensures that CSV meets all of its statutory obligations in relation to external financial reporting and financial administration. The role is responsible for internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with financial regulations.

The role provides leadership, direction, guidance and day-to-day management of the Financial Accounting Team and ensures the integrity and completeness of all CSV financial records and reporting.

This role provides expert professional advice and recommendations to the Courts Executive, senior managers and operational staff in relation to financial accounting and administration matters which enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of financial management and contribute to enhanced financial outcomes.

This role will work in partnership with jurisdiction Finance Directors, Manager Revenue Accounting, and Manager Accounting Systems to comply with statutory financial obligations and requirements. This also includes development and delivery of appropriate training materials as required.

About you

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian accounting standards
  • Extensive experience in the preparation of statutory reports including financial statements for a significant and complex organisation is essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public sector financial reporting requirements and relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of internal and external audit requirements
