    About Public Transport Victoria (PTV)

    Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is part of the Department of Transport and is a statutory authority that acts as a system authority for all public transport and an advocate for public transport users. We are a single contact point for customers wanting information on public transport services, fares, tickets and initiatives. PTV aims to improve public transport in Victoria by ensuring better coordination between modes, facilitating expansions to the network, auditing public transport assets, promoting public transport as an alternative to the car.

    Your new role

    The Asset Performance Modelling Engineer reports to the Network Technical Performance Engineer. The position plays a key role in management of change processes for the Public Transport Network (PTN). Network performance modelling is used to asses and validate the public transport network plans for future service demands of the network, assess their validity and assist in translation into well- defined and validated requirements.

    What you'll need to be successful

    Essential (must have to be considered for the position)

    • Proven record of expertise and achievement in the field of rail asset performance modelling, specifically traction power or signal headway.
    • Advanced knowledge of traction power systems and architectures (both AC and DC), rolling stock traction power and braking performance, and the impact of stray currents.
    • Advanced knowledge of infrastructure constraints on signal headway, overlap clearances, signal control tables and aspect sequences.
    • Advanced written and presentation skills and a demonstrated capacity to develop asset performance modelling policies, standards and guidelines, and to support the development of viable business cases.
    • Proven capability to perform positively in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.

    Qualifications

    Mandatory

    • Tertiary qualifications in engineering acceptable for Membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia as a Professional Engineer, or another qualification(s) deemed suitable to undertake the role in PTV.
