Do you have experience or an interest in civil, criminal or family law? 

This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career and obtain valuable experience working as a Police Lawyer in Victoria Police.  In order to address repeat victimisation, recidivism and unique offending across diverse demographics, more specialist courts are opening.

Victoria Police is seeking to meet this demand with enthusiastic, skilled and dedicated advocates to prosecute a range of complex family violence intervention order matters across multiple court jurisdictions.  As the successful applicant, you will need to demonstrate an ability to handle busy court lists and to effectively manage competing priorities.

Positions are available in a variety of locations within the Southern Metro Region including, Dandenong, Moorabbin and Franston.

 

About the roles:

VPS-3 Police Lawyer

VPS-4 Senior Police Lawyer

These roles offer an opportunity to tailor your skill to an array of matters that vary in complexity.  While you will perform in court advocacy, caseload management and offer legal advice and information to a range of clients, the roles also provide the opportunity to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the expansive Victoria Police workforce.  You will work with a range of stakeholders across Victoria Police and with other agencies as part of a broad network to ensure cooperative and proactive approaches to addressing community harm.

While these roles will be challenging and dynamic, they will offer a rewarding experience.

VPS-5 Supervising Lawyer

VPS-6 Principal Lawyer

These roles are in the Legal and Prosecutions Specialist Branch and will offer an opportunity to perform highly valued advocacy while prosecuting family violence, criminal related matters and other matters across all jurisdictions in Victoria.  The primary responsibilities of these roles are to appear in all jurisdictions to prosecute matters on behalf of Victoria Police and to offer a strategic approach to specialist prosecution in the complex family violence realm.  These roles have a direct responsibility to supervise and manage the functionality of a team of lawyers.

These roles also promote the opportunity to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.  You will work with a range of stakeholders in Victoria Police and agencies as part of a broad network that will ensure cooperative and proactive approaches to addressing community harm.
