About the Role

  • Classification: Locally Engaged Staff (LES)
  • Salary Range: Commensurate with experience
  • Work Location: Victorian Government Trade & Investment (VGTI) office, Chile
  • Employment Type: 2-year fixed term (incorporating 2 x 1-year fixed term contracts)

A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional with a background in investment attraction and trade development, together with a detailed understanding of the global business environment, particularly it relates to Chile and Victoria, Australia, to join the Victorian Government Trade & Investment (VGTI) network.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Trade & Investment, Latin America, the successful applicant will use their excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (fluency in Portuguese is also highly desirable), to identify new growth opportunities and develop and manage trade and export programs. In addition, they will identify and facilitate foreign direct investment opportunities for Victoria within Latin America.

Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will possess:

  • An excellent understanding of the Australian and Latin American business environments, including Victorian competitive advantages and key industry, economic, and socio-political drivers.
  • A proven ability to develop and execute trade and investment strategies including managing relationships with complex organisations, governments, and corporations.
  • An extensive background in conducting commercial and financial negotiations to achieve economic development outcomes.

The successful candidate for this locally engaged position will be responsible for all arrangements in relation to relocation expenses (if applicable), their accommodation and day-to-day living expenses.
