A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior professional with extensive background in developing strategies that initiate and manage trade activities, together with a detailed understanding of the global business environment (particularly as it relates to the Americas and Victoria, Australia, to join the Victorian Government Trade & Investment (VGTI) network. This role also offers opportunity to work collaboratively on dynamic programs with colleagues across the VGTI network and travel to the head office in Melbourne, Australia, as well as to international offices across the Americas.

The role requires an individual to guide and support Victorian companies to pursue trade activities in the Americas through market intelligence, development of business leads, provision of advice and introductions, vetting partners, participation in trade shows, business matching, and by supporting exporters to enter markets in the region.

Reporting to the Director, Trade, San Francisco, this position will require an understanding of international business protocols and experience managing relationships within complex, multicultural organisations, governments, and corporations.

Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will possess:
• Familiarity with the following areas— biotechnology and medical technology
• An extensive background and track record in networking capabilities and industry engagement, proficiency to establish a strong intermediary network of mentors, consultants, associations, and service providers would be highly regarded.
• Proven ability to develop, execute trade and export development strategies and programs.
• Significant experience and knowledge in a regional business development role particularly in the USA.
• An excellent understanding of market dynamics, drivers and prospects in the Americas and the key sectors with relevant matching potential in Victoria to capitalize on opportunities.

The successful candidate for this locally engaged position will be responsible for all arrangements in relation to relocation expenses (if applicable), their accommodation and day-to-day living expenses.
