Position Details

The Victorian Government established the Labour Hire Licensing Authority (LHA) to introduce a licensing system to regulate the provision of labour hire services across Victoria. The LHA undertakes a range of licensing, compliance and enforcement activities, maintains public registers and conducts research and education in accordance with the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic) (Act).

About the role

The Labour Hire Authority has three exciting vacancies for experienced Principal Compliance Officers. Reporting to the Manager in the Authority's Intelligence, Compliance and Enforcement Branch, the Principal Compliance Officers will lead small teams to implement elements of the Authority's Compliance Program, with a specific focus on high-risk industries and harms. They will further lead field operations and investigations into complex matters; provide operational leadership, support and expert advice to a small team; and engage with a variety of stakeholders to educate and influence compliance.

The Compliance and Enforcement Branch promotes, monitors, investigates and enforces compliance with the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic) and a broad range of relevant laws. The Branch undertakes compliance and enforcement activities in relation to labour hire licence applicants, licence holders, unlicensed providers and hosts both proactively and in response to complaints and intelligence that we receive from the public and other regulators.

The objectives of the scheme are to:

  • provide protection for vulnerable workers against exploitation by providers of labour hire services and host employers; and
  • improve transparency and integrity of the labour hire industry.

Therefore, the successful candidates will be required to display extensive relevant experience in compliance and enforcement, preferably in a regulatory environment; excellent communication, project management and analytical skills; and a passion for leading compliance and enforcement activities and developing people.

These roles have a flexible work location with an option of Melbourne CBD or Bendigo.

About you

  • Keen to contribute to improving employment conditions of vulnerable workers
  • Experienced and passionate about developing people and leading compliance and enforcement activities, preferably in a government and/or regulator context
  • Looking for a challenge and variety
  • A critical thinker, enthusiastic and self-motivated
