Position Details

Adult Retrieval Victoria is looking to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to supplement their team.

Adult Retrieval Victoria (ARV) is part of Ambulance Victoria (AV) and provides state-wide clinical coordination, retrieval and critical care services for inter hospital transfers. ARV transfers have a high degree of complexity and include Major Trauma and ECMO transfers. ARV is currently seeking applications from advanced trainee Registrars or Fellows in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics or Intensive Care who are interested in developing their skills in retrieval medicine.

The positions are full time, fixed term appointments for 6 months.

  1. To commence February 2020
  2. To commence August 2020

Located on base in South Melbourne you will clinically support the ARV state-wide retrieval service.

Taking direction from the Clinical Lead ARV, the primary role of these positions is to provide advanced clinical care during acute inter hospital transfer of critically ill patients.

For applicants at Fellow level or established senior registrars, the position will also provide access to research activity, and to responsibility in the areas of quality improvement, training and education.

Successful applicants will be legally qualified medical practitioners registered in Victoria, possessing appropriate medical qualifications (MBBS or equivalent) or currently completing examinations in these disciplines: FACEM, FANZCA, FRACP or equivalent.

ARV is an innovative and progressive service, and seeks capable staff to assume these positions of responsibility and leadership. Registrars/Fellows will experience a comprehensive education and induction process and achieve a high case load and competency in pre-hospital and retrieval medicine.

These positions are highly sought after and provide trainees with a unique experience in a stimulating work environment. Our medical staff perform missions via road, fixed wing and helicopter platforms throughout Victoria and Interstate.

We encourage you to make a time to visit and discuss these positions with ARV Clinical Lead, Dr Bjorn Makein.

To discuss the detail of these positions with our senior medical staff and/or to arrange an appointment to visit our base or by emailing arv.recruitment@ambulance.vic.gov.au or by visiting the website www.arv.vic.gov.au.
