Position Details

Ambulance Victoria's mission is to improve the health of our community by delivering innovative and high quality ambulance services. 

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is now recruiting a Principal Policy and Strategy Lead for the Clinical Governance & Performance department within the Quality & Patient Experience division.  This is a permanent full time position located in our Blackburn North Headquarters. Salary commences from $122,555 plus superannuation.

About the role

Reporting to the Director Clinical Governance and Performance, this role is responsible to design, develop and deliver policies, strategies and frameworks in relation to quality, patient safety and assurance and clinical governance. 

This role will provide the key coordination and support for the effective operations of Best Care and the Ambulance Victoria clinical governance systems. As Principal Policy and Strategy Lead your key areas of responsibility will include:

• Ensure the patient is at the centre of all organisational strategies, and that initiatives are aimed at assuring patient safety and continuously improving patient care outcomes.

• Fosters continuous improvement by researching best practices, evaluating emerging trends and identifying and responding to strategic issues impacting on clinical governance, quality care and patient safety.

• Devises and develops AV's quality, patient safety and assurance strategies, policies, frameworks and processes related to the Quality and Patient Experience division.

• Develops excellent working relationships across the organisation and works collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.

• Provide effective values based leadership by fostering a culture of professional development, leadership and continuous improvement.

• Models and promotes ethical and positive behaviours consistent with values.

About you

Along with relevant degree qualifications, you must be able to demonstrate successful experience in clinical governance policy and/or practice with a strong understanding of effective clinical governance. Ideally we are seeking someone with strong and effective leadership skills with a history of building collaborative work practice to achieve organisational goals.

Excellent communication skills, exceptional relationship building and interpersonal abilities are essential for this role, as is a strategic approach to problem resolution, high level planning and time management.  A current Victorian driver's licence is required.
