Position Details

The role operates within the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and provides support to the operations of the Bail and Remand Court (BaRC). 

Full time - Fixed term - located in Melbourne

If the answer is “yes" then we want you to join the team at our new Bail and Remand Court (BaRC).

We're looking for experienced Registrars who will work under the direction of the BaRC Registry Manager, and exercise powers conferred under the Magistrates' Court Act 1989, other Acts and Rules. This may include in-court duties, client contact enquiries and administrative responsibilities. 

There are multiple roles available that will be responsible for supporting the judiciary in their legislative obligations.  

BaRC sits within the Magistrates' Court of Victoria and was established in response to recommendations arising from the 2017 review of Victoria's bail system by the Hon Paul Coghlan QC.

This is a shift work position operating within a roster that includes, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Appropriate shift allowance and entitlements apply as per the VPS enterprise agreement. The role is based at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court. 

The position operates within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with the Judiciary, senior officers of the courts and government departments and build relationships with key stakeholders.
