Position Details

This role undertakes assessments and brief, post-release case planning with accused persons who are appearing before the Bail and Remand Court.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to be part of this exciting time of growth and change as we expand the Court Support Services team in the out-of-hours Bail and Remand Court.

Based at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court, the Assessment and Referral Practitioner will undertake assessments and provide brief, post-release support to people with multiple and complex support needs who are applying for bail.

The Assessment and Referral Practitioner will be required to work a roster pattern of shifts between 2pm–10pm on weekdays and 9am-10pm on weekends.

  • Relevant qualifications in social work, psychology or a related field
  • Extensive experience in assessing and engaging with clients with complex needs
  • Demonstrated ability building collaborative relationships with external stakeholders
  • Strong team player with effective communication skills and a flexible approach
