Position Details

The Family Violence Coordinator is responsible for supervising and assessing the day-to-day and future case workloads and listing practices and procedures of family violence related matters. The role requires a strong working knowledge of the Court's protocols and procedures as well as the guidelines surrounding the operation of the Specialist Family Violence Court model. Knowledge of the local service system, including family violence services, will be advantageous.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Exercise a range of administrative, statutory and quasi-judicial powers as a Registrar in accordance with the Magistrate' Court Act 1989 and other relevant Acts, rules and regulations.
  • Support coordination of cases within the family violence and intervention order jurisdiction, including family violence related criminal matters where appropriate.
  • Support coordination of both family violence registry functions and external agencies on court days.
  • Support coordination of referrals to court based support services and to community based service providers attending the court.
  • Contribute to the development of registry staff, including but not limited to, rotations to maximise ‘on the job' learning opportunities, opportunities to attend professional development programs, regular performance feedback and supporting personal development planning.
