Position Details

  • Victoria's busiest court is seeking an experienced IT Support Officer to join the Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) IT Team and be responsible for timely and high quality IT Support to internal Court Operations stakeholders
  • Providing a range of support services to staff and judiciary within the MCV jurisdiction, this role is critical to ensure users receive the support required within a challenging operational and project delivery environment
  • This permanent ongoing VPS3 role within the Court Operations team based in the Melbourne CBD provides an exciting opportunity within the ever changing Justice ecosystem.

The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be innovative, accessible and responsive, providing quality services to the Victorian community.

Reporting to the Information Technology Coordinator and working closely with the MCV IT Team, the IT Support Officer will primarily be responsible for providing timely and high-quality support to MCV IT Customers, including judiciary and staff.

The IT Support Officer will contribute to level 2 support, and also play an active role in assisting the team with various IT projects, from development to implementation.


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide IT support over the phone, in person and via remote access software
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal staff with differing levels of ICT knowledge
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Exceptional PC Skills, including a high level of competence with MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organisational structure
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to both work well within a team and be self-sufficient
  • Self-motivated and inspiring of others
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality services and to improve outcomes
  • Demonstrated expertise in PC hardware, software and LAN/WAN facilities.
