About Us
Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.
Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The MCV determines in excess of 200,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, dealing with over 90 percent of all adult cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
MCV aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the Role
Lead court operations, people and service excellence in a dynamic judicial environment.
As a Registrar, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the court complex, ensuring the effective delivery of registry services, quasi-judicial functions and court operations. Leading a multidisciplinary team, you will drive service excellence, build workforce capability and ensure court services are responsive, efficient and aligned with legislative and operational requirements.
Working closely with the Senior Registrar, judiciary and key stakeholders, you will provide authoritative advice, contribute to strategic planning, and foster strong partnerships across the justice sector and wider community. You will also oversee court facilities, security and operational performance to support the effective administration of justice.
You will lead and develop a team to deliver responsive, high-quality court services, monitoring performance, identifying service gaps and implementing practical solutions to meet operational demands. Working closely with the judiciary, court staff, community organisations and government stakeholders, you will build strong relationships that support positive outcomes for court users.
The role also provides an opportunity to influence the future direction of the Court through policy development, operational improvement and the delivery of strategic initiatives. Combining leadership, stakeholder engagement and sound judgement, you will contribute to a high-performing court environment that delivers excellence in service and access to justice.
About You
You are an experienced people leader with a strong understanding of court operations, public sector service delivery or complex regulatory environments.
You will bring:
- Proven leadership experience managing high-performing teams in a complex operational environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse range of internal and external partners.
- Demonstrated experience providing authoritative advice and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Sound judgement, problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience monitoring performance, driving service excellence and developing staff capability.
- A commitment to integrity, respect and delivering positive outcomes for court users and the Victorian community.
