Position Details
- Utilise your Prison and Corrective Services expertise to provide support and advice to Corrections Victoria at the Metropolitan Remand Centre
- 5 x Ongoing, Full-Time opportunites to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public Service
- Cog2B: $83,288 - $95,778 plus superannuation.
About the Business Unit:
The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders within the Department of Justice and Community Safety.
About the Role:
Senior Prison Officers take a lead role within custodial teams, coaching, mentoring, and supporting prison officers.
Some of your duties will include:
- Coordinating the day-to-day operations of a team of Prison Officers
- Working with all members of the prison to ensure the safety and security of prisoners, staff, and visitors - this includes maintenance of the integrity of both the external and internal security of the facility, appropriate levels of surveillance and interaction within the facility, and ensuring compliance with security and safety procedures.
- Managing a case load of offenders in accordance with the requirements of offender management practices, liaising with the various Clinical, Vocational, Personal Development and Reintegration Service staff, to meet the identified needs of said offenders.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- The ability to effectively use departmental computer systems for basic word processing, email, appointment scheduling, internet, and intranet functions.
- The ability to pay attention to words, expression and body language while recognising behaviours that promote a culture of inclusion.
- The ability to resolve issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines - and able to act on initiative when guidelines are not available.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Completion of the Prison Officer Pre-service training is essential.
