Museums Victoria is seeking an experienced Image Management and Documentation Officer with a thorough knowledge of and expertise in managing copyright of assets at the point of acquisition and for future use in exhibitions and public programs. This position requires a thorough knowledge of copyright and privacy legislation and knowledge of First Peoples protocols and cultural sensitivities in a museum.

 ABOUT THE POSITION:

The primary accountability of this position is the management of digital assets, their intellectual property and data within the digital asset management system MV Images and the collection management system EMu for use in projects such as exhibitions, publications, public programs, websites and public access occurs within the correct legislative framework.

Notable skills and experiences:

  • Excellent understanding of copyright and privacy matters as they relate to digital assets
  • Knowledge of information and image management systems and experience with cataloguing rules and authorities as used by collecting institutions
  • Significant image and audio visual research skills and the ability to negotiate rights and licensing agreements with external individuals and organisations
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work to deadlines.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work independently or as part of a team and deliver multiple projects to schedule and within budget.

OTHER NOTABLE INFORMATION

This is a full time, fixed-term position until 28 June 2019. The salary on offer is $66,699 per annum; paid pro-rata plus 9.5% Superannuation.
