ABOUT THE POSITION:
This position provides Public Programs and Education leadership across Museums Victoria and is accountable for overseeing and supporting the creation, production and delivery of a forward schedule of public programs that engages, enriches and connects our audiences through onsite, onscreen and outreach experiences.

Some of the key duties include: 

  • Provide program and scheduling oversight to support the successful implementation of a creative and dynamic suite of world-class public programs and education initiatives that drive audience engagement across all three Museum sites, and with MV onscreen and outreach experiences.
  • Develop and supervise planning and project management processes with an eye to identifying and managing challenges, mitigating risks and seeking opportunities for success to ensure highest standards and timely delivery of public programs.
  • Provide leadership to program producers, both internal and external, to ensure onsite and offsite public programs are innovative, authentic and consistent with Museums Victoria strategic mission and external stakeholder expectations eg education sector.
  • Develop and monitor the annual Business Plan and Budget of the Public Programs and Education department in order to meet Museums Victoria's strategic and operational goals.
  • Analyse and monitor Museums Victoria's audience evaluation and analytics to support the continued development of relevant and dynamic audience focused programs and experiences.


The successful applicant will have:

  • Demonstrated experience and track record in the creation, development and delivery of onsite and outreach experiences within museums and cultural organisations.
  • Demonstrated capacity to plan and manage diverse and complex projects within agreed budgets and timeframes, including knowledge of project management methodology and proven ability to effectively manage resources and compliance requirements in relation to the implementation of diverse public programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coach collaborative, creative and successful teams to achieve organisational strategic and business goals.
  • High level understanding of contemporary audience behaviour and cultural consumption patterns in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of museums within contemporary society including education and community programs.

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a Full Time, ongoing role. The salary on offer is $ $130,673 + 11.5% superannuation.
