The Head of Digital is responsible for the creation, production and delivery of high-quality, audience/user-focused digital content across multiple platforms and channels to support Museums Victoria to deliver on its purpose, vision and strategy.

Museums Victoria cares for the State scientific and cultural collections, providing visitor access, activities and events at five distinct venues:  Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, Scienceworks, IMAX Cinema and world heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

This position provides overall editorial leadership across Museums Victoria and is accountable for developing and delivering end to end digital content that engages, enriches and connects our audience through a multi-platform multi-channel digital experience.

The role also leads multidisciplinary teams and is responsible for scoping a cohesive digital narrative across multiple departments while ensuring alignment with organisation-wide plans and strategies.

Notable skills and experiences:

  • An excellent track record of editorial leadership at a senior level and demonstrable experience guiding user-centred editorial coverage across multi-channel digital platforms.
  • Contemporary experience in video and audio production and distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive successful digital content production and distribution to diverse audiences.
  • High level understanding of contemporary digital audience behaviour and consumption patterns in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
  • Understanding of the contemporary use of technology in museums, including, marketing, brand positioning, education and community programs and exhibition development.
  • An understanding of the role of Museums in contemporary society.
  • A deep understanding of how to build online communities and audience engagement strategies via social channels.
  • Experience in contributing to strategic corporate and business plans and translating broad strategies into individual actions that support Museums Victoria's strategic directions.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, representation and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels and a proven capacity to develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.

OTHER INFORMATION:

This is a full time; ongoing position. The salary on offer is $113,256 (Base of Grade) + 9.5% superannuation.
