Position Details

Short Summary – Worksafe is currently seeking a Manager, Information and Guidance for our Legislation, Policy and Information Services Division (LPIS). The LPIS Division develop and maintain the laws administered by WorkSafe by updating legislative and regulatory instruments to implement government policy. LPIS provides strategic policy advice on OHS and Workers Compensation issues and contributes to national policy forums, including a number of Safe Work Australia forums. The Division also develops codes, guidance and information materials to support duty holder compliance with Victoria's OHS and workers compensation legislation.

About the role

The Manager, Information and Guidance is an integral part of the Legislation, Policy and Information Services Division ensuring that accurate and constructive statutory and non-statutory guidance focuses on the needs of the Victorian workers and employers to enable compliance with their legislative and regulatory obligations and aide in the reduction of workplace illnesses and injuries.  The Manager, Information and Guidance has an important role to play in ensuring WorkSafe continues its work towards actively preventing workplace injuries and illness from occurring.

The position will provide leadership to a highly skilled team in the development of statutory guidance (including Compliance Codes) and non-statutory guidance, and conducts critical internal and external stakeholder engagement.

Skills & experience

  • Manages, leads and supports a highly skilled and effective team of Senior Legislative Guidance Officers in the development of quality statutory and non-statutory guidance, and conducts critical internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • Monitors standards and quality of work and develops and implements strategies to improve staff performance and services to meet internal and external client expectations
  • Develops, implements and maintains operational policies and procedures to ensure a consistent approach to the development of quality statutory and non-statutory guidance material
  • Provides high quality advice to Management and internal stakeholders on issues associated with the development and maintenance of Compliance Codes, WorkSafe Positions, and non-statutory guidance
  • Represents WorkSafe externally to promote continued high level support, understanding, and achievement of WorkSafe objectives with respect to statutory and non-statutory information, by industry, government, professional bodies and the community
