Position Details

This new leadership position will be responsible for the management and maintenance of the Government House gardens and grounds to a high standard of horticulture and presentation, including but not limited to; ornamental horticulture, turf maintenance, routine and reactive arboriculture, infrastructure, irrigation and plumbing. The successful applicant will be an inspiring leader, have a wealth of experience, great plant knowledge, excellent planning and management skills and work alongside the team undertaking 'hands on' activities.

Reporting directly to the Manager Capital Works and Asset Maintenance, your day-to-day tasks will include but not be limited to:

  • Managing the Gardens and Grounds on a day-to-day basis
  • Maintaining all gardens and grounds areas and assets
  • Development, implementation and delivery of the gardens annual works program
  • Lead, direct and supervise the gardens team and contractors
  • Provide high level advice to the Manager Capital Works and Asset Maintenance and Office Executive
  • Preparation of reports and proposals
  • Management of equipment and consumables

To be considered for this role you must have a related qualification and proven and substantial experience in managing heritage landscapes and parks and gardens. Reliability, professionalism and an extremely high level of attention to detail is required along with a positive and cheerful attitude.
