Position Details

We have two positions available: one ongoing and one fixed term (until September 2026). 

 

This role is designed for a practitioner who thrives on complexity. From managing taskforce investigations to instructing Counsel in the Supreme Court, you will exercise advanced legal skills in a dynamic, agile environment. You won't just be managing a file; you'll be shaping the pursuit of justice in Victoria.

 

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and instruct in large-scale trials, complex committals, and taskforce-led prosecutions.
  • Provide high-level verbal and written advice to the DPP, Crown Prosecutors, and Victoria Police under tight timeframes.
  • Appear as a solicitor advocate and negotiate resolutions in line with DPP policy.
  • Support the growth of the next generation of legal talent through formal and informal mentoring.
  • Work within an agile team, embracing new technologies and innovative ways of working to improve the prosecution process.

The position is Melbourne based, however occasional regional travel may be a requirement of the position. A vehicle and overnight accommodation are provided as required.

 

You will possess: 

  • Proven expertise in the County and Supreme Courts of Victoria.
  • The ability to dissect complex evidence and provide clear recommendations to executive-level stakeholders.
  • A "can-do" attitude in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • A commitment to early and active engagement with victims and witnesses in line with the Victims' Charter Act 2006.
