Director Briefings
Full Time, Fixed Term
The Director, Briefings is a new position within the OPP Executive team. This role will play a key role in developing and leading a comprehensive Briefings Strategy and will be responsible in planning, managing, and overseeing OPP Briefings budget and expenditure.
As the Director Briefings, a successful candidate will work closely with the Executive team and external stakeholders, such as barristers, barristers' clerks, the Courts and Victoria Legal Aid increase the OPP's barrister pool and ensure quality prosecution outcomes.
A successful candidate will be able to leverage their expertise in criminal law and its processes to create and lead the implementation of high-quality data driven solutions across the OPP's Legal Practice.
Key accountabilities:
- Working with key internal and external stakeholders to provide strategic leadership, advice and guidance to the briefings team and OPP legal practice by developing a comprehensive briefings framework.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to the Director of Public Prosecutions, Chief Crown Prosecutor and Solicitor for Public Prosecutions on the progress of briefing related issues, emerging issues and challenges in the data collected and recommended courses of action going forward.
- Identify, forecast, plan and manage briefing and Court related issues, briefing related issues and briefing budgets and expenditure.
Our ideal candidate:
- Will possess the extensive working knowledge, expertise and experience as a senior criminal lawyer within the criminal justice system.
- Demonstrated experience using high level conceptual, professional judgement and analytical skills to forecast, develop and deliver complex innovative solutions within a defined time and cost parameters.
- The ability to work collaboratively and negotiate with stakeholders across a large organisation to obtain support and lead impactful change effectively.
