Senior Solicitor, Appeals

The Office of Public Prosecutions is seeking applications for an fixed term Senior Solicitor position within the Appeals team. The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 300 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.

Position Details

The Office of Public Prosecutions currently has an opportunity for a Senior Solicitor. A full time, fixed term, position has arisen within the Appeals team, at VPS Grade 5 level.

This role will suit solicitors who are experienced in the criminal jurisdictions of the County and Supreme Courts.

In addition to a drive for excellence and professionalism, the successful applicant will also have an ability to work well under pressure and be team focused.

You must be admitted to the legal profession as an Australian Lawyer.

You must hold or be eligible to hold a current Victorian Practising Certificate.
