The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 380 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.

Position Details

Associate to the Director of Public Prosecutions

The Office of Public Prosecutions currently has an opportunity for high level executive support.  A full time, fixed term position has arisen in the Director's Chambers, at the VPS Grade 3 level.

This role is responsible for high level executive management support to the Director of Public Prosecutions including confidential legal, secretarial and administrative functions.  The role is a pivotal point of contact for staff within the Office of Public Prosecutions, and major stakeholders within criminal justice.

The successful applicant will have excellent time management skills, strong attention to detail and an ability to work well under pressure.

This role would be suited to candidates currently nearing the end of a Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor, currently completing their Practical Legal Training or Solicitors recently admitted to practice.
