Position Details

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is seeking an Assistant Building Inspector who will be responsible for delivering technical knowledge, conducting inspections and assessments, drafting technical correspondence and contributing to the delivery of the VBA's legislative responsibilities.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • technical knowledge of the building industry's regulatory framework, including current building codes, regulations and standards in Victoria, or other Australian jurisdictions;
  • experience conducting inspections and investigations in a regulatory environment;
  • strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare timely, clear and accurate reports;
  • your ability to provide high-quality advice, and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the ability to achieve effective outcomes;
  • your ability to proactively manage your own workload and work collaboratively in a team to achieve goals and agreed deliverables; 
  • your ability to proactively identify opportunities for generating workplace innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and taking responsibility for initiating outcomes.

Salary Details

A base salary in the Grade 4 range of $84,019 to $95,329 per annum (plus 9.5% super), will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on their skills and experience.
