Position Details

What we do

VAGO play a critical role in holding the public sector to account by reviewing how effectively agencies deliver services and use public funds. We positively affect the lives of Victorians by examining government entities' effectiveness, reporting on inefficiencies, and recommending how to improve future performance.

What you'll do

Reporting to the Deputy Auditor-General, you will:

  • Provide authoritative advice to the senior leadership group
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic and operational plans
  • Lead the transition to VAGO's innovative new finance system
  • Drive the creation of a best practice finance function including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, budgeting and internal and external financial reporting requirements
  • Lead, manage and develop a small professional team to achieve excellence in service delivery
  • Oversee and deliver weekly, monthly and annual reporting activities
  • Identify and implement opportunities for financial services business improvements
  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and leadership regarding finance IT, systems, legislation and processes
  • Develop options to solve local and systemic business issues
  • Ensure compliance with the VPS Financial Management Compliance Framework, corporate governance requirements and other legislative and/or external guidance material

We'd prefer you to have postgraduate qualifications in Finance, Business, Accounting or a similar field. You'll also need to hold full professional membership of an accreditation body as specified in the position description.

Your application will be highly regarded if you have detailed knowledge of Victorian Government fiscal management policies and practices.
