About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Division
The People Strategy and Operations (VPS) division is responsible for managing HR operations and providing strategic support for both corporate staff and accommodation services. It oversees corporate environments, sustainability initiatives, payroll, recruitment, policy development, workplace relations, and workforce management. Operating under a values-based framework, the division prioritises meeting client needs and improving policies and processes, to deliver on our corporate responsibilities.
It's an exciting time to join the People Services branch, which manages payroll, people operations, talent acquisition and HR services with the goal of attracting and retaining top talent, whilst nurturing a culture of high performance and innovation. The branch is currently implementing a new innovative operating model to introduce more efficient work methods and enhance its service delivery to the business.
About the Role
In the HR Shared Services team you will have the chance to work closely with various external client groups, providing essential operational support in a fast-paced environment. Your main focus will be on supporting our clients throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring their payroll and recruitment needs are met seamlessly. You'll also have the opportunity to dive into complex payroll issues, helping to find solutions that work for everyone. Come and be a part of our team, where you can make a real difference.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrated work experience in high volume Payroll operations or a similar field.
- Experience using payroll systems such as Chris21, SAP, MYOB, Xero.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Enjoys working in high-volume team environments.
- Strong customer service and both written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem solving and investigating of complex queries with a focus on providing positive outcomes.
