Position Details
This role is a 0.6 FTE, as a job share arrangement as co- Director, Employee Respect, Safety and Inclusion branch. The role reports to the Executive Director, ESWID, and will oversee systems of work and the development and delivery of strategic initiatives, programs, policies and strategies relation to workforce diversity and inclusion and the prevention of work-related violence and psychosocial hazards including bullying and sexual harassment.
The role requires excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills and an ability to engage with senior Department staff, school principals, across government and with peak industrial organisations. The role also requires strong collaboration, communication and partnership skills to work effectively with the co-Director, ERSI, to deliver the work of the branch. The successful candidate will have experience designing and delivering workforce strategies or initiatives and knowledge and understanding of laws/regulations or policy relevant to workforce diversity and inclusion and the prevention of work related violence and psychosocial hazards including bullying, sexual harassment, gendered violence. The role will co-lead a branch which comprises of the following teams:
- Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Team develops policies, programs and initiatives to ensure diverse and inclusive workplaces in DET's workplaces including schools and corporate offices.
- Respectful and Safe Workplaces team develops, implements and leads initiatives for the prevention of psychosocial hazards including bullying, sexual harassment, gendered violence and the prevention of work related violence in DE's workplaces including schools and corporate offices.
The role requires the Director to work collaboratively with the co-Director:
- oversee systems of work to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and standards;
- development of strategic initiatives to prevent work related violence and other behaviours that pose a risk to health and safety, and to promote and embed diversity and inclusion;
- oversee project governance and ensure delivery of initiatives and commitments;
- engage with stakeholders and ensure programs and initiatives are effectively consulted upon and are responsive to employee feedback and data insights
- oversee initiatives and services that aim to improve the capability of the Department's workforce
- manage internal and external stakeholder relationships with unions, regulator agencies, health and safety representatives, staff networks, Whole of Victorian Government committees and other agencies and departments
