Are you ready to take on an exhilarating challenge that makes a real difference?

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and Melbourne Water are seeking passionate individuals to join our dynamic team of Project Firefighters. Get ready to immerse yourself in thrilling fire management activities across Victoria's breathtaking National Parks, State Forests and Protected Public Land. But that's not all! You'll also have the opportunity to support other emergency responses, including flood and storm incidents.

As a member of Forest Fire Management Victoria, located at over 80 workcentres throughout Victoria, you'll play a crucial role in safeguarding our precious natural landscapes. You'll collaborate with dedicated departmental personnel, skilled contractors and fellow Project Firefighters, creating lasting connections within our close-knit community. Every day you'll face new challenges, exercise your problem-solving skills and make impactful decisions, all while enjoying the camaraderie of a fantastic team.

Who are we looking for? We want individuals who embody strength, resilience and a strong sense of community. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast, a quick thinker or a proactive team player, this unique opportunity is tailored for you. No prior emergency response is required, because we'll provide you with comprehensive training. So don't hold back – Apply now and ignite your future!

What you need to join us:

  • Hold a current manual Drivers Licence (Conditions A, I & V not acceptable for employment).
  • Will be 18 years old as of 1 October 2023.
  • Possess a high level of fitness to meet the demands of the role in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively and effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Embrace the opportunity to learn, grow and be part of a meaningful mission.

When you become part of our team, you'll attend a minimum 2-week training camp to equip you with the skills you'll need. Upon successful completion, you'll earn the General Firefighter accreditation – a true badge of honour!

These fixed term positions are available for a minimum of 22 weeks, typically spanning November to April, with various locations available throughout Victoria.

You'll have the chance to explore and protect stunning landscapes whilst earning a competitive salary ranging from $56,044 to $65,221 per annum, plus superannuation.

Your salary will reflect your skills and experience, rewarding your commitment to our shared mission.
