Position Details

We are building an inclusive workplace to help realise the potential of our employees, embrace our differences, and apply our diverse thinking to innovation and delivering services to Victorian communities. All jobs can be worked flexibly and we encourage job applications from Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) requires a Senior Assurance Officer who has a substantial professional career to date in the audit industry. Ideally, our applicants will come from an audit firm or be currently working in an audit role within a corporate or government organisation and have a sound understanding of audit and assurance frameworks, theory, processes and principles.

We require a suitably experienced individual to partner with internal stakeholders to support and guide them through the process of undertaking actions to be completed against audit recommendations, thus achieving their audit requirements.

You will have a demonstrated ability to lead risk and assurance activities and solid experience in an Auditor's approach to their work. You will know how to draft and deliver high quality progress reports and results of assurance activities to stakeholders and be able to confidently meet reporting requirements.  You will be able to identify gaps and establish plans with the audit owners, and work with them so that they have no outstanding audit actions.

Your presentation skills are exceptional as you present to senior leaders and stakeholders at multiple points in the assurance cycle. Your overall communication skills – written, verbal, listening – are well-honed as these skills will be utilised when leading risk and assurance activities, facilitating workshops and training sessions to a wide range of audiences – whether group or individual.

Our successful candidate will be outcomes oriented; they enthusiastically see matters through to completion and are able to maintain their own professional momentum to appropriately partner, influence and negotiate with others.  You will have highly developed time management skills and know how to best use your time and that of others you work with. You are comfortable working towards deadlines.  We need a team-oriented colleague who is genuinely approachable and enjoys working with people and not just in driving processes.

Qualifications such as CA/CPA, CIA, CISA, CFA, FRM, MBA are desirable.

This is an ongoing position.

To be considered for this position, your application should include a supporting statement demonstrating that you meet the key selection criteria and any job requirements specified in the position description.
