About us

  • the effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of government agencies, programs and services
  • the quality of resources management
  • opportunities for improvements in management practices and systems

About the role

Financial Audit Directors:

  • Lead the delivery of financial audits and/or Parliamentary reports within an allocated sector team
  • Participate in the crafting, promotion and implementation of strategic goals and lead business unit planning activities
  • Lead a team of professionals through coaching, mentoring, recognition and providing development opportunities
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
  • Provide authoritative advice to VAGO's executive leadership team
  • Monitor and report on team outputs and operational effectiveness
  • Assist in the development of audit methodology and processes
  • Respond effectively to risk, materiality, public interest perspectives and stakeholder sensitivities
  • Undertake Engagement Quality Control Reviews

About you

You have extensive experience applying Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards whilst leading external financial audits.

Your background enables you to critically analyse, evaluate and communicate financial audit results.

You'll also have:

  • Advanced influencing skills and expert writing capabilities including the ability to communicate complex and highly technical information to a general audience
  • Highly developed project and risk management skills;
  • Well-rounded business acumen including procurement, contract negotiation and resource and risk management
  • Strong strategic leadership skills including proactive identification and response to emerging trends, issues, risks and opportunities to better target audit activity
  • A passion for innovative approaches and history of paving the way for change
  • Ability to define and prioritise current and future capability requirements
  • Credentials to lead by example including motivating your people to achieve peak performance
  • Tertiary qualifications and professional membership as per the position description
