Prosecutions Technology Specialist

The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for preparing and conducting criminal prosecutions in Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Matters prosecuted by the DPP and the OPP involve serious crimes or matters that are of significance to the fair and effective operation of the Victorian criminal justice system. The OPP consists of the Solicitor for Public Prosecutions and a staff of approximately 300 providing legal and corporate support to the DPP, the Chief Crown Prosecutor and Crown Prosecutors in the exercise of their independent roles in the criminal justice system.

Employment Type:  Full Time, Fixed Term (2 Years)

Salary Range:  $79,955 - $90,716 plus superannuation

  • Newly created role as the conduit between the legal practice and Information Technology and Audio Visual team
  • Work with a variety of stakeholders to build working relationships and design and implement technology solutions in the legal practice

The Office of Public Prosecutions currently has a newly created opportunity for a Prosecutions Technology Specialist.

This role is based within the legal practice and will be the link between lawyers and the Offices' audio visual and information technology teams. As the Office moves to a paper free environment you will have the opportunity to consult with lawyers to determine their needs and develop and implement appropriate technology solutions to support criminal prosecutions. You will be responsible for the operation of courtroom presentation equipment during prosecutions using a range of hardware devices and software applications.

To be successful in the role you will need a general understanding of legal processes and a strong technical ‘know-how'.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification/qualification in a technology related field are desirable
  • Currently working within a legal environment or working towards obtaining qualifications are also desirable
  • Experience working within a legal environment and a knowledge of Government processes
