Position Details
About the role
As a Ranger at Parks Victoria, you could be working across a diverse range of tasks and activities, all of which are aimed at preserving our parks, engaging with the community and hands-on maintenance of our facilities.
Our Parks are located across the state and provide different services to visitors - your responsibilities can include:
- conservation program delivery
- maintainance of our infrastructure
- delivery of education programs
- engagement with local community groups
- working with Traditional Owners in joint management arrangements
You will be playing a key role in delivering across a variety of projects ad-hoc practical tasks that are essential in keeping our Parks open, safe and clean.
We're looking for someone with
- Relevant skills for the on-ground management of our Parks, such as trade skills, outdoor education and community engagement, or qualifications across environmental science, natural resource management or conservation and land management
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication, including the ability to explain concepts to people of different backgrounds and to engage constructively with colleagues and stakeholders
- The ability to work constructively with members of the public, volunteer groups and park users in delivering on-ground services and projects in parks and reserve
- For our Maritime and Waterways roles, experience in working on and over water, with coxswains qualifications highly desirable
