About the role

As a Ranger, you will have responsibility for contributing to Parks Victoria's natural values (making sure that the natural environment and cultural sites are protected) and visitor services (helping visitors to enjoy and understand parks).  You will plan for and deliver park services to enable efficient and effective delivery at your park and contribute to the delivery of your district through your strong work ethic and commitment to your team. 

Parks Victoria is recruiting for the following Designated Aboriginal Ranger Positions:

  • Ranger (Community Engagement) - Western Basalt - Serendip
  • Ranger (Community Engagement) - North East Melbourne - Lower Yarra
  • Ranger - Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Ranges - Woori Yallock
  • Field Service Officer - Northern Rivers - Nathalia

Your responsibilities will also include: 

  • Project management and delivery of whole projects with minimal supervision and applied expertise
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with line managers, staff and key stakeholders across Parks Victoria wide
  • Displaying a thorough understanding of organisational purpose, directions and governance for managing the parks estate applying this understanding across Parks Victoria
  • Adhering to Parks' Victoria vision and Commitments

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Certificate or Diploma in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management and or relevant experience in a similar filed;
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service, communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Relevant level of knowledge of regulations and compliance procedures;
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Traditional Owner groups;
  • The ability to work weekends and public holidays if required.
