Who we are

Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities. We support them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events.
As the control agency for flood, storm, tsunami, earthquake and landslide emergency, we take the lead in the preparation and response for those hazards. Under the coordination of Emergency Management Victoria (EMV), VICSES works within the broader emergency management sector, wherein all agencies and services work as one to ensure the safety of the state. 
We also work closely with key partners and municipal councils throughout Victoria to develop and improve their emergency management plans in relation to the performance and exercise of their duties and responsibilities under the Emergency Management Acts 1986 and 2013.

About the role

The Regional Manager- Assistant Chief Officer, (RM) is responsible for ensuring the service delivery and operational response across the East Region and for supporting the delivery of broader VICSES strategies and priorities. 
The RM is responsible to the VICSES Chief Officer Operations (COO) for operational capability and service delivery at a Regional level to deliver VICSES services safely and effectively whilst contributing to the on-going development of an all communities, all emergencies approach to emergency management.
The RM will lead an integrated team of volunteers and staff across the Region, providing strategic leadership and guidance, working in a matrix model for building a flexible and agile workforce, driving a culture of high performance, innovation and inter-operability for emergency response and improving safety performance.

This role attracts a VPS6.1 Salary grade of $120,692 - $141,102 + 15% Commuted Allowance + Superannuation in accordance with legislation.  For further details, please refer to the attached position description.
