Position Details
About the opportunity
The Compliance Officer (Asset Inspection) reports to the Infrastructure Compliance Manager and works collaboratively across the team to undertake inspections of electricity network assets. They will also respond to energy safety incidents and conduct enforcement actions where required.
The role is responsible for field inspection of regulated electricity network assets.
The work they do will assist Energy Safe to deliver inspection and audit programs that test compliance with electricity network management standards, energy safety legislation, safety management plans, and work procedures. They will aid the promotion of safety initiatives used to inform Victoria's major electricity companies.
The role requires the capacity to understand the methods and work practices used by the major electricity companies to ensure network assets are being managed safely and, in a manner, consistent with their regulatory obligations. This will be achieved through implementing inspection practices, strategies and assessments that confirm the major electricity companies are achieving appropriate and required safety outcomes.
Key accountabilities
- Perform inspections and audits of electricity network assets, reviewing energy safety incidents, recording results into Energy Safe databases, analysing results and monitoring progress of corrective actions to mitigate potential risks.
- Support and deliver inspection programs to verify the capacity of major electricity companies to comply with legislation.
- Advise on safety matters in the practical application of asset inspection, safety legislation and regulations, management plans and compliance programs.
- Develop and manage effective relationships with industry stakeholders, the community and other regulators.
- Represent Energy Safe at forums, such as trade events or conferences to promote Energy Safe programs and initiatives.
- Participate in the Energy Safe availability roster and carry out availability duties as required.
- Other duties as required.
Key Selection Criteria
- Certificate 2 in ESI – Asset Inspection (UET20612)
- Significant inspection and auditing experience in the electricity distribution industry.
- Sound knowledge of relevant energy safety Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice with ability to interpret and apply where applicable.
- Experience with or exposure to, quality assurance and risk management frameworks.
- High level communication, advocacy and dispute resolution skills that fosters effective relationships.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
