Position Details

An opportunity exists for a motivated individual to join the Court of Appeal Registry as a Registry Administration Officer.

Registry Administration Officers perform a range of legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions under limited supervision which contribute to the day to day operations of the Court of Appeal registry.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.  Registry Administration Officers perform a range of legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions under limited supervision which contribute to the day to day operations of the Court of Appeal registry.

Responsibilities of a Registry Administration Officer can include:

  • Perform a range of general administrative functions including initiation of appeals and applications, listing hearings, processing correspondence and preparing orders.
  • Update the Court's computerised case management system (CourtView) and other relevant  databases as required.
  • Assist and support the Court of Appeal Registry team members in effective delivery of customer  service.
  • Provide assistance with electronic, telephone and counter enquiries from external and internal clients.
  • Contribute towards the continuous improvement of the Court of Appeal Registry by assisting in the development and implementation of new practices and procedures.

To be successful in the role, you should be able to demonstrate good written communication, interpersonal, organisational and planning skills. Your experience in working in a court, tribunal or other similar environment will also be of benefit, however it is not mandatory.
