Position Details

Associate to the Honourable Associate Justice Lansdowne

  • Full time, fixed term role
  • $67,866 per annum + 9.5% superannuation (VPS Grade 3 position)
  • Role based in the Melbourne CBD

Associate Justice Lansdowne is seeking a legally qualified individual with post-admission experience to be her Associate (at VPSG3 level) for a fixed term period of 12 months. Associate Justice Lansdowne hears Common Law and Commercial matters in the General Applications List, as well as some short trials including those in the Judicial Review and Appeals (JRA) List.

The successful candidate will require excellent organisational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.  The Associate will be required to provide high-level legal support and administrative services both in chambers and in the courtroom. The role requires excellent time management skills, attention to detail, a strong customer-service focus with high level communication skills at all levels. The incumbent would also be expected to assist other judges chambers as required.

Duties include:

  • Performing administrative tasks, including maintaining court records and preparing material for use by the judge in court.
  • Clerking in court;
  • Liaising with court staff, the public and the profession;
  • Legal research, proofreading and providing other assistance with judgment production;
  • Document management.
