Position Details

 Junior Associate to the Honourable Justice McMillan

Supreme Court of Victoria

  • Full time, fixed term role
  • $50,828 per annum + 9.5% superannuation (VPS Grade 2 position)
  • Role based in the Melbourne CBD 

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in the Common Law Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, and to closely observe the work of the judge and advocates. 

To be successful in this position, you will have a strong interest in private law. You will have excellent time management skills, being able to balance the administrative demands of chambers with legal research, writing and editing tasks.  Post graduate legal experience, although not necessary for the role, is desirable.  Proficiency in grammar and a strong academic record are essential.

Duties include: 

  • Preparing research memoranda;
  • Assisting with the production of judgments, including proofreading and editing;
  • Clerking in court;
  • Reviewing files and orders;
  • Liaising via email, telephone and in person with Court staff, the public and the profession.
  • Performing administrative tasks.
