Position Details

Junior Associate to a Reserve Judge

Supreme Court of Victoria

 

  • Full time, fixed term role
  • $49,216 per annum + 9.5% superannuation (VPS Grade 2 position)
  • Role based in the Melbourne CBD

The Honourable Justice Robson is seeking a legally qualified individual to be his Junior Associate, commencing late October / early November this year, until 14 December 2018, with the possibility of promotion to the Senior Associate position during this time.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the Commercial Court Division of the Supreme Court. 

The position requires a motivated individual with high-level administrative and organisational skills with an interest in Commercial Law. An interest in Equity and Corporations Law is preferable.  A legal qualification is required, and at least one year's post admission experience at a law firm (or similar) is desirable. Proficiency in grammar and a strong academic record are essential. The position also requires an ability to work as a member of a team; strong interpersonal skills suitable for liaising with the profession and members of the public; and high level organisational skills.

Duties include:

  • Preparing memoranda, and assisting with the production of judgments, including   proofreading and editing;
  • Conducting high level legal research;
  • Performing high level administrative tasks including organising and administering the judge's chambers, maintaining the judge's personal affairs including accounts, maintaining Court records and preparing material for use by the judge in Court;
  • Clerking in Court; and
  • Liaising with Court staff, the public, and the profession.
