Position Details

The Environment Protection Authority is looking for Senior Environment Protection Officers across Victoria.  

Our locations: Bendigo, Wangaratta, Geelong, Gippsland, Dandenong, Metropolitan Melb (West & North)

EPA plays a key role in protecting the community by preventing the impacts on human health and environment from pollution and waste. We monitor compliance with environmental laws, guidance, and standards, taking regulatory action where require.  

A key part of this role is the monitoring of compliance with the law including investigation of pollution reports from the community and taking required enforcement action.

What Senior Environment Protection Officers do:

  • Lead, support and provide guidance to individuals and the unit through activities such as mentoring & training
  • Monitor compliance and support duty holders to comply with the law
  • Enforce the law to prevent harm from occurring and drive environmental improvement
  • Represent EPA in the region: inform and educate business, government and the community on their environmental responsibilities

Qualifications, Attributes & experience:

  • Degree in science, engineering or. equivalent qualification or. industry experience will also be considered.
  • Ability to enforce the law and take regulatory action
  • An understanding of environmental management, law and common industry practices, risks and controls
  • Experience & exposure in the Waste sector including liquid chemical waste and Landfills will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to identify hazards and understand controls to manage risks within industry
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and motivate internal and external stakeholders to deliver required outcomes
