Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) is the control agency during emergency response to flood, severe storm, earthquake, tsunami and landslide in Victoria, and is the largest provider of road rescue in the state. The Role:

The purpose of this role is to provide project coordination services to the Operational Communications Enhancement Project (OCEP), which will install 2400 new radios (portable, mobile, and fixed station) at 160 locations across Victoria, and will provide training for 5200 SES Volunteers.

This role will ensure that VICSES conducts the activities and has the information necessary to clearly plan and reliably execute the delivery phase of the project.

This role requires travel (by VICSES-owned vehicle) within the State.  Travel to some locations and/or duties may necessitate an overnight stay. 

This position is based at the VICSES Head Office, located at 168 Sturt Street, Southbank, VIC, 3006.

 Your accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Enhance the ability of the OCEP project team to meet operational requirements by providing advanced administrative and project support, including schedule management, coordinating and preparing relevant documentation for meetings.
  • Support the OCEP project team to achieve the required outcomes by assisting with the development of test plans, coordinating user acceptance testing, coordinating event management including organising Volunteer Engagement Forums and Training Sessions, and coordinating site assessments and installations.  
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the OCEP project by supporting the preparation and distribution of reports and correspondence on behalf of the project team and by maintaining computerised project records and web-based project publications. 

 You will have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  (mandatory)
  • Strong ability to coordinate activities of multiple parties.  (mandatory)
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.  (mandatory)
  • A full Victorian drivers licence.  (mandatory)
  • Experience with volunteer roles and training in emergency services.  (highly desirable)
  • Systematic approach to progression of repetitive tasks.  (highly desirable)
  • Project Management qualifications, e.g., Certificate IV in Project Management Practice.  (desirable)
  • Competent in Microsoft Project and Visio programs.  (desirable)
  • Current Victoria Driver Licence
