Position Details

Project Support Officer - (Operational Communications Enhancement Project)

Full Time – Fixed Term for 12 Months

  • $65,713 to $72,753 + 9.5% Superannuation

The Role:

Provide project support to the Operational Communications Enhancement Project (OCEP), which will install 2400 new radios (portable, mobile, and fixed station) at 160 locations spread widely across Victoria, and will provide training for 5200 VICSES Volunteers and Staff.

This role will ensure that VICSES conducts the activities necessary to clearly plan and reliably execute the delivery phase of the project.

This role requires frequent travel (by VICSES-owned vehicle) within the State.  Travel to some locations and/or duties will necessitate overnight stays (up to a week in some cases). 

This position is based at the VICSES Sunshine Complex, located at 239 Proximity Drive, Sunshine West VIC 3020.

Your accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Enhance the ability of the OCEP project team to meet operational requirements by providing administrative and project support, coordinating and preparing relevant documentation.
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the OCEP project by ensuring equipment is in suitable condition for delivery, organising logistics, conducting site visits (in collaboration with VICSES Regions and Units), providing site access and escort for contractors, conducting quality assurance checks, preparing equipment for decommissioning, and completing the documentation associated with these activities. 
  • With guidance from the Operational Communications Technical Officers, undertake relatively simple installation and programming tasks, and/or de-installation and deprogramming. 
  • Must be able to maintain and build relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Must be capable of working autonomously.
  • Must be customer-service focused.

You will have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write documents in relation to technical investigations or projects
  • Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel programs
  • Strong ability to coordinate activities of multiple parties
  • Ability to act as a site supervisor during installation works by contractors
  • A full Victorian drivers licence
  • Experience with volunteer roles in emergency services (highly desirable)
  • Systematic approach to progression of repetitive tasks (highly desirable)
  • Skills in the installation and commissioning of communications technologies (desirable)
  • Victorian medium rigid truck drivers licence (desirable)
  • Forklift license (desirable)
  • Working with Children Check (desirable)
