Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) is the control agency during emergency response to flood, severe storm, earthquake and tsunami in Victoria, and is the largest provider of road rescue in the state.

The Role:

This role is responsible for the management of occupancy/lease agreements/arrangements and minor repairs and maintenance works at existing VICSES corporate and volunteer unit facilities. These works must be delivered within agreed time, cost, scope and quality parameters. This role reports directly to the Manager of Facilities and Capital Works and is required to display strong leadership to support the delivery of business outcomes.

Your accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Enhance VICSES ability to maintain an appropriately resourced emergency management and response capacity through ensuring that VICSES Volunteer and Staff facilities are maintained to the required standard, by managing external contractors/suppliers and occasionally using a “hands on” approach to rectify minor issues.
  • Contribute to the Facilities and Capital Works business unit by managing and reporting on minor works and facilities maintenance budgets.
  • Support the Manager of Facilities and Capital Works and the other Facilities and Capital Works team members in coordinating the timing of minor and facilities repairs/maintenance work with major construction capital works projects.
  • Enhance the ability of the business unit to deliver on the business plan objectives by ensuring that works are completed promptly and within the specified time and to the required building standards/codes/regulations, Work Health and Safety regulations and VICSES Policies.

 You will have:

  • experience in managing and prioritising multiple projects concurrently, including preparation and presentation of status & financial reports
  • experience in appointing and managing external consultants.
  • experience in reviewing and prioritising minor projects, maintenance/repair proposals and technical documentation produced by internal and external stakeholders
  • experience in negotiating, reviewing and maintaining lease/occupancy agreements/arrangements
  • experience in reviewing tender submissions and appointing building contractors
  • experience in obtaining statutory approvals for building projects
  • influential in negotiations with external suppliers of major services
  • competent in Microsoft Office programmes
  • current  Victorian Driver's License
