About the Opportunity

The Digital Engagement Producer works as part of SLV LAB, a new prototyping and innovation lab at State Library Victoria. The role is responsible for engaging visitors and audiences with the Library's digital R&D (research & development) by producing innovative online content and events.

The Digital Engagement Producer is a creative communications and engagement role . This position will suit someone who is keen to explore creative and critical applications of technology and the future of libraries. No coding skills are required, however you will need to be comfortable working with multidisciplinary specialist teams including technologists and software developers, designers, librarians and information management specialists. The role also leads development of innovative and accessible ways to engage audiences and communities with Library R&D projects through creative communication of research.

The position is an exciting blend of content development, including copywriting for the website, as well as the need to produce in-person events. Engaging online audiences in the activities of the Lab is a key component of the role.

About You

The ideal candidate will be able to ensure that the Lab's activities find their audience outside the Library. This is a mid-career opportunity where a background in science or technology communication is likely to be beneficial to your success in the role, as would creative / content producer experience.

In addition, you will come to us with:

  • Demonstrated industry experience in hands-on digital content production.
  • Experience creating accessible content for the web. (Experience working on projects promoting accessible and inclusive practices is desirable).
  • Demonstrated capability in project coordination (preferably in digital content development, AV production, or podcast development).
  • Experience with producing communications (blog posts, briefs and papers) conveying subject matter to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience writing creative briefs or treatments and working with digital production teams.
  • A track record of successfully building and maintaining productive and cooperative stakeholder relationships.
  • A continuous improvement focus, evidenced by exploring experimental processes and adopting new approaches.
